During my trips across Canada (see biking pictures), I was struck by how wide and flat the prairies were: Saskatchewan and Manitoba and their "Big Skies." The only things that breaks the horizon, regularly spaced alongside the railways, are the grain elevators. Unlike the cathedrals, which were made of stone, these elevators were made mostly of wood. They are now disappearing fast, and many in this album are gone already. So this is my little museum of the prairie kings.

Charlottetown to St. John's - the 6th and last segment of the tour du Canada "a mari usque ad mare" with Don Steele and Mike Young. This had started 6 years earlier in Vancouver. This segment brought us from Charlottetown, on Prince Edward Island, to Nova Scotia, the island of Cape Breton, and then all across Newfoundland, to its capital, St. John's.
